WYDA was set up in 2012 by Rebecca Foster when drama was removed from the curriculum in local schools. Rebecca studied at the University of Huddersfield and trained as an actor at the London School of Dramatic Art. She has been a teacher of Drama for Eleven years and works as an actor and theatre director. WYDA is linked to working professionals in order to provide quality training and a network for our emerging actors.
All of our events and performances are programmed, produced, written by our students. Developing our projects in house gives our academy a real family feel. We perform in professional theatres such as the West Yorkshire Playhouse and the Sheffield Crucible as well as making theatre in libraries, museums and festivals. Whether you would like to become an actor, writer, producer, director or develop your interest in lighting, set design, costume and makeup we can provide you with opportunities to make you and your CV shine!
A high percentage of our students have agents, however many young people take part in our projects to build confidence enjoy drama as a hobby or to complete their duke of Edinburgh award.
